Lack of coverage of Restore Britain

Complaint template

To whom this may concern,I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the lack of coverage by the BBC of Restore Britain reaching the milestone of 100,000 members. On the day this milestone was achieved, there was no mention of it on the BBC’s homepage or within its wider news output. Instead, other stories of seemingly lesser national significance were given prominence. Stories such as: ''Formula 1's new golden age of celebrity may have just begun''. Given the level of public engagement represented by 100,000 members, it is difficult to understand why this development did not warrant at least some coverage. As a publicly funded broadcaster supported by UK taxpayers, the BBC has a responsibility to report news accurately, fairly, and impartially. Its Royal Charter and editorial guidelines emphasise the importance of due impartiality and reflecting matters of public interest appropriately. Ie- When a political or civic organisation reaches such a substantial membership figure, many licence fee payers would reasonably expect this to be considered newsworthy. The absence of coverage raises questions about consistency in editorial decision-making and whether all political movements and organisations are being treated fairly. Public trust in the BBC relies on confidence that significant political developments are not overlooked or selectively ignored.I would appreciate a clear explanation of:1) Whether this milestone was considered for coverage.2) What editorial criteria were applied in deciding that it did not merit reporting.3) How the BBC ensures balanced and proportionate coverage of emerging political or civic organisations.I look forward to your response and trust that this matter will be reviewed carefully in light of the BBC’s obligations to licence fee payers and the wider public.
